(La Grande) - According to the Oregon Department of Education (ODE), La Grande High School (LHS) continued to exceed the state average in 4-Year Graduation and 5-Year Completer rates. An analysis of the data provided by the state shows the following:
The 2021 4-Year Graduation Rate at La Grande High School (LHS) was 86%. This rate is 5.37% better than the state average of 80.63%.
- The 2020 5-Year Cohort Completer Rate at LHS was 93.79%. La Grande outperformed the state average of 87.75% by 6.04% for the same cohort.
- LHS students with disabilities 4-Year Graduation Rate exceeded the state average by 20.59% with 86.67% graduating on time.
- Historically Underserved Ethnicities students at LHS also outperformed the state by 9.64% with 85.71% of students graduating on time.
- Career and Technical Education Concentrators at LHS graduated on time at a rate of 94.52%.
Superintendent George Mendoza said the district is proud of the district’s 2020-21 graduation rates, which indicate the hard work of staff and students and the determination toward earning a diploma that has continued despite the challenges of the past two years. “We are particularly proud of the effort our schools have in building great relationships with students. Meeting their social emotional, mental health, and academic needs is more important than ever and our results during a difficult time are commendable. The graduation rate of students with disabilities also recognizes the efforts of our staff and students to make this happen,” Mendoza said. Assistant Superintendent Scott Carpenter stated, “LGSD pushes for continual improvements in our services for our students. We hope ongoing efforts to improve special education services and expand CTE opportunities for students in the district will help La Grande High School continue these positive graduation rate trends.”
