Summer is just around the corner, and it's time to start planning your warm-weather activities! As you make your summer to-do list, prioritize self-care and well-being. Embrace the great outdoors. Spending time outside has numerous benefits, such as reducing stress and anxiety, improving mood, and boosting creativity. Consider activities like walking, hiking, biking, gardening, or relaxing in a shady park. Make time for loved ones. It's easy to get caught up in our daily routines and miss out on quality time with friends and family. This summer, prioritize reconnecting with your loved ones through shared meals, game nights, movie nights, or simply picking up the phone for a catch-up call. Prioritize sleep. During busy times, our sleep habits can suffer. Make an effort to establish a consistent sleep schedule and give your body the rest it deserves. Most importantly, have fun and do something that brings you joy each day. Whether trying a new hobby, indulging in a favorite activity or simply taking time to relax and unwind, make sure to prioritize your happiness this summer. If you or a family member are struggling with mental health or substance use issues, remember that help is available. Care Solace, a complimentary and confidential coordination service provided by La Grande School District, is available 24/7/365 throughout the summer to help you find mental health care or substance use treatment providers. Call 888-515-0595 for multilingual support or visit caresolace.com/lagrande to search for providers on your own or receive assistance through video chat, email, or phone. We wish you a happy and healthy summer break, and we'll see you again soon!

Celebrating AAPI Heritage Month in Schools and Beyond AAPI Heritage Month is a time to honor the rich tapestry of Asian American and Pacific Islander cultures. Schools can be a powerful platform for celebration and learning. Here are a few ideas: Embrace Diversity: Highlight the vastness of the AAPI community. Plan activities that showcase the unique traditions, languages, and histories of various Asian and Pacific Islander groups. Spark Curiosity: Feature books by AAPI authors or incorporate folktales from different regions into the curriculum. Organize movie nights featuring AAPI films or invite guest speakers to share their cultural experiences. Create a Safe Space: Discuss the importance of cultural sensitivity and bystander intervention. Encourage open dialogue about the challenges faced by AAPI communities, including recent incidents of racism. Care Solace is Here for You We understand that navigating mental health challenges can be difficult, especially for those feeling isolated or misunderstood. Care Solace is committed to providing culturally sensitive care to everyone in need. Our comprehensive network of providers includes professionals of diverse backgrounds and treatment approaches. If you or someone you know wants to be connected to a mental health care provider, contact Care Solace, a complimentary and confidential mental health care coordination service provided by La Grande School District: Call 888-515-0595. The Class of 2024 Pathway Completers will be honored at a ceremony tonight at 6:00 in the auditorium. Seniors who completed one or more pathways during their high school career will be recognized during this fun event, the first of many celebrations this month. If your senior completed a pathway, an invitation was sent to their home address. Students and families are encouraged to attend. If your senior has a baseball or softball game today, they can arrive in uniform because we want all completers to attend! The ceremony should last for about an hour. Cupcakes will be available to go after the ceremony!

Mental Health Awareness Month For Mental Health Awareness Month, we have an opportunity to break the stigma around mental health in our campus by talking openly, compassionately, and kindly to each other. No one should ever struggle alone. School staff are the backbone of student well-being, but remember that you also can’t pour from an empty cup. During Mental Health Awareness Month, NAMI joins the mental health community to reaffirm our commitment to building our understanding of mental illness, increasing access to treatment and ensuring those who are struggling know they are not alone. If you or someone you know wants to be connected to a mental health care provider, contact Care Solace, a complimentary and confidential mental health care coordination service provided by La Grande School District: Call 888-515-0595. Multilingual support is available 24/7/365. Visit www.caresolace.com/lagrande and either search on your own OR click “Book Appointment” for assistance by video chat, email, or phone. Don’t hesitate to ask for help, use the resources around you, and never give up hope.
