Good afternoon LHS students and families, We're nearing the end of our first half of the semester with students and wanted to brief you all on a few important reminders. First, we're still dealing with the Coronavirus and the impact of quarantine. This means students are out for extended periods of time. Please remember it is the student's responsibility to advocate and communicate with teachers on missing work. This means checking google classroom on a regular basis. All work is housed here. Second, it is important upon return from quarantine to see teachers before or after school if you have concerns. You're responsible for all work unless the teacher has excused an assignment or you've made arrangements otherwise. Please do not assume that the work is excused. Lastly, please schedule your conference virtually using synergy. Information is posted on the website and FaceBook with directions on how to. Thanks again. TigerUp

Cook Memorial Library provides free literacy tutoring Tuesday - Thursday weekly from 1:45 - 4:30pm. Here is the Application for Free Tutoring and Scheduled Access to Learning Stations: https://forms.gle/ujzefuLCBq1KnKPN9 During open hours, all ages are welcome, and Literacy Center services are free of charge. Please drop in to check out our collection of available educational games and materials, and use the Literacy Center’s PCs and AWE computer learning stations. Students may stay longer than their scheduled hour. Learning packets are sent home with students for additional learning and practice. Tutors will go over materials to make sure that your student understands. Please feel free to review work on the packets with your student, as repeating helps with comprehension, and students begin using self-correcting techniques while rereading. Students who complete their packets receive prizes during their subsequent tutoring sessions! If you have questions, contact Myra via email: mbritschgi@cookmemoriallibrary.org, or phone: 541-962-1339.

Congratulations! La Grande JV Football Congratulations on your recent sportsmanship nomination. This is a recognition program that gives OSAA sport officials the opportunity to highlight the positive sportsmanship that they see on the field. Each program that receives a nomination will be eligible to receive the OSAA Sportsmanship Award for their activity, which includes 100 OSAA Cup points for your school! In a recent game, your JV Football program exhibited the great qualities that the OSAA looks for in teams, programs, and communities across the state, and your game official noticed! Way to go JV Football !!! You make us proud.

PSAT is tomorrow, October 16th. Here is what you need to know: a) Doors to the science wing open at 7:30 AM and close at 8:00 AM. Please be prompt. We have to get the test started on time. I will key down the doors on the wire gate outside the science wing. b) First thing that you will need to do is find an empty tub in the hall to put your stuff in. I will ask you to fill out our Covid screening protocol and take your temperature before I let you into the testing room. If you are feeling sick, please DO NOT come in to take the test. c) You will need #2 pencils and a calculator. For the real SAT you will need ID. If I haven't had you in class before can you please either bring your ASB card or driver's license? d) Dress in layers. We will have heat, but the room could be either too hot or too cold for you. e) There are a couple of breaks during testing. You might want to bring some food that you can eat by your tub during the break (same with water). We should be done around 12:30?

Goss motors is extremely interested in taking on a couple interns-which could lead to a full/part time job. Also, they are open to job shadowing this fall for students who want to learn more about the career. Also, they mentioned the internship could possibly lead to funding a student through a mechanic program or classes. Contact Shasta Fisher in the Tiger Hub if you are interested.
