Good afternoon Tiger Parents and Students, I wanted to thank you for a great start to our first week of in person instruction. Having students on campus is truly a blessing. With that said, I am thankful for how well students have adhered to the safety protocols. Student safety is our number one priority and this allows us to stay operating and educating in person. Just a few of these important protocols include wearing masks while on campus, hand sanitizing and washing hands often and social distancing in classrooms and hallways. We also are requiring all staff and students to wear a visible I.D. attached to their grade level lanyard. Please ensure this is around your neck and visible for any staff member. This allows us to quickly identify students and know them by name. Please help us remind students to keep this with them in their backpack and have it ready and visible while on campus. Attendance is an expectation so please, if you’re well and healthy, plan on attending every day for your scheduled time. This also means arriving within the scheduled time from 8:50 - 9:00 AM. We will continue to offer a grab and go breakfast to any student that would like one. As students leave campus we will again offer this option as a grab and go lunch snack. If you have siblings at home they’re welcome to take one for them as well. Again, I can’t express enough how excited we are to have students back at LHS. #TigerUp

There will be no charge for student parking permits this school year. We do still want students to get parking permits as it allows us to identify their vehicles as needed. Students can get the vehicle registration form in the main office and once the form is completed and signed, they will receive their permit.

Good afternoon, LHS families. Let’s try this again. I am sorry about the missed day today. The boiler has finally been fired up, and we are beginning to see heat return to the buildings. This is a last reminder about our return to in-person learning tomorrow, Thursday January 28. Our B cohort will begin tomorrow, which is students with last names starting with L-Z. On Friday, our A-K students will attend. Please remind your student to show up at the correct entrance they’ve been assigned for their 1st period class. This information was mailed home to all families and is found on the LHS website. Students will need to show up at 8:50 or after, since doors will not be opened before then. Period 1 begins at 9 a.m. Students should bring their school materials in a backpack along with a water bottle. Please also make sure your student is wearing a mask appropriately and is not feeling ill with any symptoms of COVID-19. All students should review their school email, since important new work will be provided there and in your Google Classrooms. “A” day students, you should be checking those sources for work to complete. Each student will be screened at the entrances for signs of illness, and will then be helped to move straight to their first period class. Reminders for 6 foot spacing, face masks, hand sanitizing, and other key health safety practices will be given regularly and often so we can keep our students and staff safe. Please remind students to dress warmly in this cold weather. Lastly, if you have to utilize busing to transport your student to school, you will need to contact MidCo Bus Company at (541) 963-6119 as soon as possible. So here we go! Please help us make sure we can stay safe, to stay in school, so our Tigers can ROAR! Parents and families, please take note of this important message. Due to significant problems with our heating system that occurred yesterday, we are without heat in the high school building. Without the ability to get our buildings up to a reasonable temperature, the decision has been made to close LHS today so that repairs can be made. All other grades will continue to operate as planned in the other schools. On Thursday, we will continue with our calendar and begin with our B cohort. We'll finish the week with A cohort as planned. We have had technicians on-site since 7 a.m. yesterday as well as our own maintenance staff working on solving this problem. Unfortunately, a repair has not been possible yet. We anticipate a repair can be accomplished today. We want to thank you for your patience while we make this happen. Please stay tuned to La Grande School District and La Grande High School's website and social media for updates. We will continue to communicate with you as soon as we have more information. So to recap, La Grande High School will be closed today. There will be no classes for students. We anticipate being able resume our classes tomorrow and will communicate with you at the earliest possible juncture today about plans for tomorrow. Thank you, and stay safe and warm. Best Regards, Principal Baxter

This is a last reminder about our return to in-person learning tomorrow, Wednesday January 27. Our A cohort will begin tomorrow, which is students with last names starting with A-K. On Thursday, our L-Z students will attend. Please remind your student to show up at the correct entrance they’ve been assigned to get to their 1st period class. This information was mailed home to all families and can also be found on the LHS website. Students will need to show up at 8:50 or after, since doors will not be opened before then. Students should bring their school materials in a backpack along with a water bottle. The water bottle is very important because we cannot allow students to share the water fountains in hallways. We do have bottle fillers on campus. Please also make sure your student is wearing a mask appropriately and is not feeling ill with any symptoms of COVID-19. All of this information can be found on our LHS website. So…the time has finally come for students to be back in their classes in person, and we couldn’t be more excited. It feels very much like the beginning of a school year. Our teachers are ready and eager to get to know students and develop relationships that will help us all learn together. Please help us make sure we can stay safe, to stay in school, so our Tigers can ROAR! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Buenas tardes, familias de LHS. All high school grades will be coming back on an A/B schedule. Students whose last names start with letters A through K will begin classes on Wednesday, Jan 27 at 9am and attend in person every other day following. Students with last names L through Z will show up on Thursday, Jan 28 at 9am and attend every other day following. Please see the A/B rotation schedule linked below for specific dates. Please do not send your student to school before 8:50am, when our doors will open, and if they are not feeling well, keep them home. After their first day of in person learning, students will be provided work to complete on the alternate day when they remain at home during school hours. Students will be given the option to grab a breakfast when they arrive to eat in the first ten minutes of their first period class. A grab and go lunch will also be offered to students upon release at 1:25pm. Students may opt to take the lunch home, or if they ride the bus, they will be given time to eat lunch at school. These meals are free. Students need to bring school materials in a backpack, Chromebook, charger, pencils or pens, and paper to school. Again, we are excited to see high school students, many for the first time in person, next Wednesday (A Cohort) and Thursday (B Cohort)! Please review more information on our website, and we look forward to seeing the kids soon!
