La Grande High School is currently updating its graduation class photographs with new frames and glass. These senior class photographs are a part of the high school’s history, and we would like to keep them in good condition for years to come. We have a group of community members helping to raise money to support this effort and we would love you to do the same. If you’re interested in helping with this process, helping fund your graduation class picture, or would like to know more about our efforts please contact Kathy Rudd, class of 1969, or Eric Freeman, Assistant Principal at LHS at the numbers listed below. If you would like to donate to this project please go to the LGSD website, hover over the menu button and click on information. From here you will select In-Touch online payments. Click on the blue menu bar that says “Make a Donation”. Select La Grande High School and the item of choice for your donation is titled “Graduation Photo Restoration.” We’re also selling extra copies of class mimirs/yearbooks that date back over 75 years. The cost for one of these leftover yearbooks is $25.00 and the proceeds will go back to the LHS Desktop Publishing class and the Graduation Restoration Project. Freshman Academy: Just a reminder that tomorrow, August 2nd is the first day for anyone interested in the freshman academy. We’re asking that students arrive at the gym entrance on Second Street at 9:00 AM. Please, if you have one, bring a water bottle and wear appropriate clothing to be both inside and outside during the day. The building has been a little warm in certain areas so plan ahead. Athletic shoes or something closed toe is recommended. Lastly, masks remain optional for students and staff at this point in time but are welcome if you feel it necessary. Other than that, just come with enthusiasm and be ready to have some fun. We’re anxious to meet you. We will dismiss at 12:00 PM and students will be given a sack lunch on the way out.
LHS Freshman Academy: Starting August 2nd, and running through August 19th, we will offer 12 days of transition activities for incoming freshmen students. The program will run Monday through Thursday for three weeks and take place from 9:00am-12:00pm. There is a wide range of activities planned, and these include but are not limited to: hands on activities, physical competitions and games for fun, cooking, as well as building rockets and RC cars. We’ll have a new theme and topic for each of the three weeks. These will include Math and English, Career and Technical Education, and Food and Travel. We hope to see you Monday, August 2nd at 9:00am.
This fall, LGSD students will attend school full-time, five days per week. The Oregon Department of Education is now revising guidance to support K-12 schools in safely delivering in-person instruction. That guidance, Ready Schools, Safe Learners, is expected on or before July 24th. LGSD will work with a committee of parents, community members, and staff to update our safety plans and those will be released in early August.
Governor Brown has signed an order, lifting all remaining COVID-19 restrictions. This allows the La Grande School District to no longer require masks during our indoor and outdoor summer programs. The Oregon Health Authority recommends unvaccinated individuals and other vulnerable persons continue to wear masks and practice other health and safety measure to stay safe from COVID-19.

Because of extreme heat and fire risk, the LHS Band has decided to cancel its sale of fireworks this summer to support the LG Fire Department and to be as safe as possible. This annual fundraiser has been crucial for paying for trips and festival costs on a yearly basis. If you are interested in supporting the band this year, consider making a donation to "LHS Band" using the following link or mail a check to the following address:
